METHODOLOGY & CLASS STREAMS
Flamenco For Life offers much more than a typical Flamenco class because the proprietary methodology used intentionally promotes physical, emotional, soul centered health and resilience while developing a dancer more effectively and quickly.
Equal emphasis is put on the development of the whole person as much as on dance instruction using a proprietary methodology I developed over 20 years of education and dance experience, that incorporates neuroscience (deep practice), yoga, meditation, and art therapy as well as advanced experiential pedagogy heavily informed by the work of Daniel Coyle (The Talent Code) and David Kolb (Experiential Learning).
At Flamenco For Life students benefit from expert pedagogy that is as much an art form as Flamenco is itself.
The two combined make for transformational class experiences that integrate resilience, discipline and artistry into a student's life as well as promote the integration and expression of the student's life experience through dance.
This is where Flamenco For Life shines; in creating expert learners, and integrating the dance with the person and the person with the dance.
Flamenco is the centuries old folk dance of Spain originating from a fusion of the songs and dances of primarily persecuted people such as the Roma and Jews, until in 2010, it became recognized by UNESCO as a representative art form of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Two main streams are offered through Flamenco For Life based on the level of challenge the student desires to experience.
The Folkloric and The Performance.
The Folkloric places emphasis on musicality, self-expression and community over professional dance technique
The Performance stream places intense focus on the foundational technique, rhythm, choreography and artistry necessary for the formation of a beginner professional dancer.
