Flamenco is not only a dance form, it's a way of life for those who it captivates into spending a lifetime mastering its rhythms, movements and mysteries.
I know because after 24yrs I only fall more deeply in love with this rich, infinitely textured, varied and profound art form that never ceases to present new challenges and fascinations to its artists, students and aficionados.
To dance Flamenco requires a lot, but it returns so much more; the gifts of better all around health (mind, body and soul) as well as personal empowerment and resilience that carry over into every aspect of life, personal and professional.
At Flamenco for Life my mission is to introduce students to Flamenco consciously and intentionally not only as a dance form, but very much also as a highly effective medium that imparts life skills by promoting, mental, emotional and physical health as well as personal development, resilience, healing and empowerment.
In my personal experience, the arts have been both my greatest all around teachers and healers with Flamenco at the very top of the list.
When I started dancing, all I wanted was to become a better dancer. I had no idea how much that journey would develop my overall resilience (mental, emotional, and physical) as a person as well, and improve every single aspect of my life both personally and professionally.
Now that I know, and have through my love of Flamenco, overcome so many personal, professional and artistic challenges, I'm moved to share that full experience with anyone and everyone who is curious about what Flamenco can do for them.
Though I have danced professionally on stages as I aspired to, the truth is that through my Flamenco journey I have learned that any art form is not FUNDAMENTALLY about being a great performer on a grand stage.
Fundamentally, all art forms are about learning to speak the language of the soul as it's trying to understand itself and its place in life. That is in essence what art is; the direct language of the soul through which the most profound individual growth and healing happen.
Each art form is simply a different dialect of that language. After trying on many for size, I learned that Flamenco was for me.
Though I will always aspire to improve aesthetically and technically as a dancer, what Flamenco has given me on a stage as a performer is just the tip of the iceberg of what it has given me off the stage as an individual.
I'd love for you to try it on for size too!
You never know until you try.
If you're looking for a creative outlet, something to stir your heart and soul, or itching to express something, even if you have no idea what it is, come visit Flamenco for Life.
Because everyone should be encouraged to find an art form that suits them best, the first two classes are on me!
All you have to lose (potentially) is the love affair of a life time!
